We Need Your Help!

My name is Mary, I am the owner of Curious Collections in Bryan, Texas.

I started my store in 2016 with my dad's record collection and a dream to bring an indie record store to the Bryan/College Station area. Something we have not seen in a very long time. Since the inception of Curious Collections, our community has welcomed us with open arms and we were continuing to grow, despite my cancer diagnosis with extensive treatments in 2018 and the pandemic in 2020.  I am happy to let you know I am in remission, but I'm sad to report that Curious Collections is in financial trouble. I have done everything I can to get people in the store and to generate more sales. Despite our best efforts, sales have continued to drop and I am struggling to pay rent and my employees.  Over the last few months, sales have steadily decreased 20-30% and are continuing to fall. For the month of March, sales fell short to break even and pay our bills. I have my theories: the bank collapse or whether customers are just hanging onto their money for Record Store Day, but as a small business, just one month of slow sales can put us so far behind. March was painfully slow and April is proving to be the same.  We will still be open for Record Store Day and will have the RSD releases that we promised.  I have not taken a paycheck as the owner in quite some time and as of April 5, 2023 I have unfortunately had to reduce our staff to volunteer positions only. Other drastic changes include reducing our operating hours and cutting back on all expenses unless completely necessary for operations.

I am completely wrecked over these decisions and feel I have no other options at this point.  This is certainly not ideal for my staff, Curious Collections or myself as a business owner, but is what is necessary at this time for me to stay in business and keep my head above water.

I will continue to do what I can so that I do not have to permanently close the store. However the next 6 months will prove to be very trying times. If you can help in any way, personal advertising, volunteer of your time, financial help, anything, even a small purchase will help.

I have store flyers that can be posted around town, if you would like to pick some up, please contact me directly. If you feel inclined to help in other ways, I am open to any other suggestions you may have.

Please use this link to volunteer your time or to help at Curious Collections financially.

I thank you for your continued support and especially help during these hard times.
