Its no secret\r\nthat were partial to the flourishing NYC metal scene, having worked\r\nwith numerous bands from the city. There seems to be an\r\noverwhelming concentration of creative energy coming from the\r\nregion, and we love being a part of whats happening there.\r\nPyrolatrous was formed in 2012 by Nicholas Palmirotto (also of\r\nHULL), who wrote and recorded 3 songs with Joel Stallings (also of\r\nRadiation Blackbody\/Defeatist) on drums. The project took a\r\nbackseat to HULL due to touring schedules, but was then revived in\r\n2015 after HULL disbanded. Unable to continue with the project at the\r\ntime, Joel was replaced on drums by the ubiquitous Lev Weinstein (of\r\nKrallice, Anicon, Woe, Geryon, Zeal and Ardor live lineup, and more).\r\nTogether, Palmirotto and Weinstein completed writing and recording\r\nTeneral. Following the completion of the album, the remainder of the\r\nlineup was solidified with the inclusion of Nolan Voss (guitar, also of\r\nAnicon), and Joe Merolla (bass).\r\nTeneral is a densely crafted album, both thematically and musically. A\r\ngreat deal of Pyrolatrous style is influenced by classic black and\r\ndeath metal, utilizing both sweeping, blasting tremolo passages and\r\npowerfully technical riff \/ percussion interplay. Although on Teneral\r\nPalmirotto and Weinstein elevate each of the albums nine\r\nmovements beyond what has become expected of the standard\r\nblackened death composition through their extensive experience and\r\nconsiderable skill. On a lyrical level the album touches on topics\r\npersonal and social, but throughout they maintain a commonality in\r\ntheir observation of life, existence, and the human experience\r\ninteracting with both ones self and the machinations of society.\n\n1.
