At Curious Collections, we’re always up for a good story—especially when it involves community, compassion, and a little bit of rock and roll. But this morning, we found an unexpected guest outside our shop, and he needs our help.
🐾 Meet Opossum Malone! 🐾
While getting ready to open the store, we discovered an injured opossum near our entrance. He was scared, hurt, and clearly in need of help. That’s when we called the Paws & Claws Wildlife Rehab Center, an incredible local non-profit that specializes in rescuing and rehabilitating injured and orphaned wildlife right here in the Brazos Valley.
They didn’t hesitate to step in and take Opossum Malone into their care, just like they do for so many other wild animals in our community. Their dedicated team works tirelessly to provide medical attention, food, and proper rehabilitation so animals like Opossum Malone can heal and return to their natural habitats.
Now, we want to give back to this amazing organization—because today, they helped us save a life.
How You Can Help (and Get Rewarded!):
🐾 For every donation made to Paws & Claws TODAY (Saturday, 2/1/25), Curious Collections will match it in Curious ca$h $$$$$. That means your generosity helps provide vital care to injured wildlife and earns you free vinyl, CDs, or music merch!
🐾 Every dollar counts! Donations go toward:
✅ Medical treatment for injured wildlife
✅ Nutritional care and feeding for orphaned animals
✅ Shelter and rehabilitation until they’re ready for release
✅ Public education on how to coexist with and protect our local wildlife
🐾 What Paws & Claws Does for Our Community:
Paws & Claws isn't just about helping cute critters like Opossum Malone. They play a critical role in maintaining the balance of our local ecosystem. With the help of Texas A&M wildlife experts, they provide:
- Emergency care for injured animals like deer, birds, opossums, raccoons, and more
- Safe environments for young or orphaned wildlife until they can survive on their own
- Education on how to protect and respect the wildlife that shares our neighborhoods
Many people don’t realize how much work goes into wildlife rehabilitation or how vital organizations like Paws & Claws are to the Bryan/College Station area. Without them, many injured and orphaned animals would have nowhere to go.
Why Opossums Matter
Opossums might not be the first animal that comes to mind when we think of conservation, but they are actually amazing creatures that help our ecosystem in so many ways! Did you know:
🦝 Opossums eat thousands of ticks each year, helping to reduce the spread of Lyme disease
🦝 They are immune to venomous snake bites and actually help control snake populations
🦝 They are nature’s clean-up crew, eating decaying matter and keeping the environment healthy
🦝 They are gentle and rarely carry rabies due to their low body temperature
Opossum Malone may just be one little guy, but he represents so many wild animals in need of our help. By donating today, you’re ensuring that Paws & Claws can continue to rescue and rehabilitate wildlife just like him.
