Art Pepper - Art Pepper Meets the Rhythm Section - According to jazz lore, on the morning of January 19, 1957, esteemed alto saxophonist Art Pepper woke up to learn that he was booked for a session, just hours later, with Miles Davis’ highly respected rhythm section (pianist Red Garland, bassist Paul Chambers, and drummer Philly Joe Jones), where the landmark title, Art Pepper Meets the Rhythm Section, was recorded. Remastered from the original concert tape reels and in cooperation with the Bill Evans estate, this limited edition 2 LP set includes an extensive booklet with rare photos from the actual concert, essays by American author/journalist Marc Myers and Argentine author Claudio Parisi—who wrote the book Grandes del jazz internacional en Argentina (1956-1979)—plus new interviews with Eddie Gomez, Marty Morell, and pianist Richie Beirach.

Miles Davis - What It Is: Montreal 7/7/83 - This double LP release features one of Miles Davis’ final great bands: John Scofield on guitar, Bill “The Other Bill Evans” Evans on saxophones, flute and electric piano, Darryl Jones on bass, Al Foster on drums, and percussionist Mino Cinelu. Miles was back in amazing form (“incandescent and iridescent as ever,” critic Greg Tate noted), when he mounted the stage at the Theatre St-Denis during the Festival International De Jazz De Montreal in July 1983, and this revelatory performance has been lovingly mixed and mastered for its first ever release, on vinyl for Record Store Day 2022.
