Almost Famous - Soundtrack
The Grammy Award winning original motion picture soundtrack Almost Famous is now available on 2LP 180-gram black vinyl with unreleased photos to enhance the packaging. Featuring songs from Led Zeppelin, The Who, Elton John, Simon & Garfunkel, The Beach Boys, Todd Rundgren, Rod Stewart, The Seeds, The Allman Brothers Band, Lynyrd Skynyrd, David Bowie, Clarence Carter, Cat Stevens, Thunderclap Newman, original score track by Nancy Wilson and "Fever Dog" by the film's fictional band Stillwater. This one has been out of print for quite a while so make sure and grab one soon.
The Trojan Story - Trojan Records (3LP)
One of the most significant collections in Trojan’s immense catalogue, the “The Trojan Story” album dramatically changed the perception of Jamaican music among the general British public outside of the country’s Afro-Caribbean population. Prior to its release in 1971 there had never been an attempt to present a comprehensive anthology of the island’s musical development, with vintage ska, rock steady and reggae widely regarded as obsolete and of precious little merit. The treble disc set, which became an instant best-seller, had been the brainchild of Trojan’s label manager and Black Music fan, Rob Bell, who, assisted by Trojan stalwarts, Dandy Livingstone, Webster Shrowder, Des Bryan and Joe Sinclair, produced arguably the most significant Jamaican music retrospectives of all time. Now, 50 years following its original release, this hugely influential album has been revisited by Bell, along with reggae musician, Rusty Zinn, who have succeeded in improving what was already an almost perfect collection.
Motorhead - No Sleep ‘Til Hammersmith (3LP)
Motörhead in 1981 was a band of extremes; a flammable mix of non-stop celebration over their rising success and punishing graft, underscored by an inter-band powder-keg dynamic. After recording Ace Of Spades, it had shot to number four in the UK; the killer breakthrough after Overkill and Bomber had done essential groundwork, late 1980’s Ace Up Your Sleeve UK tour was a triumphant lap of honour that spilled into the recording of No Sleep ‘Til Hammersmith. The album took its title from an inscription painted on one of the trucks, referencing the 32 gigs they were playing with only two days off. The track listing ended up featuring three tracks from Ace Of Spades, five from Overkill, Bomber’s title track and two from their self-titled debut. Originally released on 27th June 1981, Lemmy is quoted as saying of it “I knew it’d be the live one that went best, because we’re really a live band. You can’t listen to a record and find out what we’re about. You’ve got to see us.” Upon release No Sleep ‘Til Hammersmith went straight to number one, their first and only in the UK and is still the most necessary live album of all time. The Vaccines - What Did You Expect From The Vaccines?
Released in 2011, What Did You Expect from The Vaccines? is the debut studio album by English indie rock band The Vaccines. This new Music On Vinyl pressing is on 180g Black Vinyl and features an extra disc of demos from the original sessions. This one is a little punk rock and a whole lot garage rock, with a bit of The Strokes thrown in for good measure.
