Miles Davis - What It Is: Montreal 7/783 - MIles Davis went through a multitude of bands and members over his storied career, but this may have been his last great band. Featuring John Scofield on guitar, Bill “The Other Bill Evans” Evans on saxophones, flute and electric piano, Darryl Jones on bass, Al Foster on drums, and percussionist Mino Cinelu. Miles was back in amazing form (“incandescent and iridescent as ever,” critic Greg Tate noted), when he mounted the stage at the Theatre St-Denis during the Festival International De Jazz De Montreal in July 1983, and this revelatory performance has been lovingly mixed and mastered for its first ever release, on vinyl for Record Store Day 2022.

Tangerine Dream - Alpha Centauri - While Tangerine Dream isn’t exactly Jazz, it’s pretty close to the modern approximation of Jazz. Recorded at the Dierks Studio in Stommeln, the album featured a line up of Edgar Froese, Chris Franke, and Steve Schroyder with guests Udo Dennebourg (flute) and Roland Pualyck (synthesizer). First released in Germany on the Ohr label, the influence of the album was immense, with the band creating imaginative soundscapes previously unheard on record.
