Help and support for our owner, Mary as she fights breast cancer

Six years ago, October 2018, I was diagnosed with a very aggressive form of stage 3 breast cancer. My friends were a pillar of strength and beauty during that time, helping with meals, garage sales, and fundraising. To this day, I am grateful for all you did during that horrific time in our lives.

Steven and I got married in June 2023, and we now have four teenage boys (two are my bonus boys).

A routine bone scan a few weeks ago showed a spot on my pelvis. After a bone biopsy, we found it to be metastatic breast cancer that has spread to my bone (stage 4). As before, it is extremely aggressive, and we are being very aggressive with the treatment as well. I started oral chemotherapy (heavy dose of radiation pills) last week. It has basically the same side effects as the chemo infusion, maybe not as intense, and I may not lose my hair. Radiation starts next week with the possibility of a hip fracture from treatments.

Please pray for us. We are all taking this news very hard.

I know some of you will want to help. Above all, our Lord has a plan. Please pray that we will have the wisdom to decide what choices to make and the strength to get through this process. Our boys eat a ton, so if you feel like sharing a meal with us, it would be much appreciated. I’m starting a strict Alkaline diet, so I don’t need anything, but my boys can surely empty a fridge.

I will most likely be taking a lot of time away from my store for doctor appointments and when I don’t feel well. Curious Collections always suffers when I’m gone.
