Got Records to Sell? We Buy Collections Big & Small
Buying record and CD collections is easily one of the best parts of my job. On any given afternoon, someone might walk in with a small crate of classic rock records they saved up for in the seventies, or I might be heading out to evaluate an estate collection with thousands of albums tucked away in a spare room.

We are always looking to buy collections big and small. If you have a crate or two, you can bring them right on into the shop. If you have a massive collection that would take three car trips to move, you do not have to worry about hauling all that weight down to us because we will happily travel to you for the larger ones.
Before you load up your trunk or reach out, I wanted to share a few quick details on how we evaluate collections, what drives market value, and what you should keep in mind before filling out our seller form.
First, we look at the scope of the collection. Knowing the format and the primary genres gives us an immediate picture of what we are working with. We regularly evaluate vinyl records in LP, 45, and 78 formats, along with cassette tapes and CDs. High demand genres on our shelves include classic rock, blues, jazz, hip hop, metal, punk, soul, and funk. Genres like classical, big band or mid century vocal pop can be a bit harder to find new homes for, but we look at every collection carefully on a case by case basis. Giving us an estimated count and a quick summary of the music types helps us prepare for the buy.
Condition and how items were stored play a huge role in determining value. An album might be highly collectible on paper, but if it spent twenty years in a damp environment, it may not carry any commercial value today. Paper sleeves and tape ribbons are very sensitive to their surroundings. Standard dust and light dirt are completely fine and easily handled during our cleaning process, but issues like warping from heat, severe water damage, and especially active mold change things completely. Active mold presents health risks to our staff and customers. Because of that, we cannot accept items affected by active mold or severe water damage.
We take a lot of pride in keeping physical media out of landfills. Our rule of thumb is to never throw away music materials unless there is active mold or an actual health risk. If a record is too scratched to play cleanly, or if we end up with duplicate copies of lower demand titles, we give them a second life. We repurpose unplayable vinyl into handcrafted decor and bowls, and we use old cassettes and CDs for art projects and store displays. Depending on condition and current demand, some items may end up being donation only, but you can feel good knowing we do everything possible to keep media in circulation.
To help you out before filling out our seller interest form, we put together answers to our most common questions.
Do I need an appointment to bring records into the store? For smaller collections under a hundred items, you are welcome to stop by during regular business hours without an appointment. For larger quantities or on site visits, please complete our seller form first so we can set aside dedicated time to go through your collection properly.
Will you travel to my location to inspect a collection? Yes, absolutely. For large collections, we are more than happy to travel to you. Just share your general location on the form and our team will follow up to coordinate details.
How do you determine payment amounts for records? We do not use a flat rate per item. Compensation comes down to three main factors: artist significance, the specific pressing, and overall condition. A rare, well preserved original pressing carries much higher value than a common or heavily worn release. We evaluate everything fairly based on current resale market standards.
What media formats do you buy besides vinyl records? Along with vinyl, we are always looking for cassette tapes, CDs, original band merch, and vintage audio equipment like turntables, receivers, and speakers.
What if my items are dusty or have been stored for long periods? Standard dust and light dirt are completely fine since we clean used items before putting them out for sale. However, active mold, mildew smells, and severe water damage are automatic passes due to health and safety standards.
Do you offer cash or store credit options? We offer both. Opting for store credit will always net you a higher overall value than a cash offer.
If you are ready to find a new home for your collection, we would love to take a look. Please take a moment to fill out our Google form with your details, including estimated quantities, music genres, general condition, and where you are located. I will review your submission promptly and reach out so we can talk music.
