When I first looked at the vacant service station on 29th Street, I didn't just see old brick and mechanics' bays. I had a vision of a community "3rd space." I saw a place where we could finally stretch our legs, breathe, and stay a while.
Right now, we are right in the thick of it. We have a massive clock ticking down—less than a week left to move a decade’s worth of music—and the build-out is happening at lightning speed (under 2 months) We are doing this in phases, focusing on getting the music in place first so we can welcome you to The Record Garage in just a few weeks (August 2026).
I took these photos before we started then again earlier this week, and looking at them makes my heart skip a beat. This week, my family moved the majority of the large items and I've nearly panicked a few times, but looking back at the before photos of this project, I'm grateful how far we've come and how everyone came together to make it happen so quickly. Our landlord and property manager has been more than supportive and extremely generous through this entire process and I believe our good Lord above that we were brought together for a reason. We aren't quite ready to open the doors to the public and there's still a lot do. But the transformation from this dirty, dingy former service station to now, is remarkable. It all started the first week of June 2026 and we've been non stop since then. There's been a lot of behind the scenes that you can't see in these pics, but believe me.. it's been a lot.
On July 31st, 2026 aren't leaving North Rosemary with a heavy heart; I am leaving it with a profoundly full one. You all gave me the courage to build Curious Collections from the beginning and from an 18 wheeler of inherited records and antiques. Now, I can’t wait to turn the page and write the next chapter with you, my Bryan & College Station community at The Record Garage.
