Johnny Cash - Classic Cash: Hall of Fame Series (Early Mixes 1987)

Regardless of when they were recorded, or what label he was with, having the chance to pick up an album that includes one of the masters of country singing the songs that made him famous, is a must have. This one has all the songs you need to get started on your Johnny Cash collection.

The Rolling Stones - Metamorphosis UK

This 1975 B-sides and Rarities comp is one for the uberfans of The Rolling Stones.  Deep dive unreleased cuts, re-recorded songs The Stones gave to other artists and tracks that had the 60’s/70’s bootleg market printing album after album.

The first official Rolling Stones’ rarities collection, Metamorphosis, was originally released in June 1975 to try to outwit the bootleggers. The release combines legendary outtakes and rarities as well as the wealth of demos that Mick Jagger and Keith Richards composed for other artists, which were subsequently re-recorded by the Stones themselves. The collection includes an orchestrated version of “Out Of Time,” recently featured in Quentin Tarantino’s Once Upon a Time in Hollywood. The Record Store Day 2020 limited edition of the UK version of Metamorphosis will be released on hunter green vinyl and includes a full color exclusive iron-on t-shirt transfer of the album artwork, which alludes to Franz Kafka’s novella “The Metamorphosis,” the story of a man who wakes up one morning to find himself inexplicably transformed into a huge insect.

SIDE A –

  1. Out Of Time 2. Don't Lie to Me 3. Some Things Just Stick in Your Mind 4. Each and Every Day of the Year 5. Heart of Stone 6. I'd Much Rather Be With the Boys 7. (Walkin' Thru The) Sleepy City 8. We're Wastin' Time 9. Try a Little Harder

SIDE B –

The London Suede - The London Suede

Released as Suede in the UK, but changed to The London Suede in the US due to another band already claiming the name, this debut LP is a 1990’s britpop classic.  Easily one of my favorite albums of the 1990’s, tracks like Animal Nitrate, The Drowners & Metal Mickey showcase how amazing this band was at their peak and ranks up there with anything the Britpop frontrunners, Oasis & Blur, ever put out. I’d take this over anything those two bands put out.

Originally released in March 1993, “Suede” was the fastest-selling debut album ever in the UK, and contains what Rolling Stone called “its triptych of instantly classic singles”: “The Drowners”, “Metal Mickey” and “Animal Nitrate”.

At the time, the album’s release in the US was hampered by an injunction from an existing US act called Suede. As a result, the band’s subsequent album releases in the US were ‘branded’ as being by “The London Suede”, but the first album was never re-branded until now. It’s pressed on 180g clear vinyl in the US for the first time as The London Suede.

Side One

  1. “So Young” 2. “Animal Nitrate” 3. “She’s Not Dead” 4. “Moving” 5. “Pantomime Horse”

Side Two

  1. “The Drowners” 2. “Sleeping Pills” 3. “Breakdown” 4. “Metal Mickey” 5. “Animal Lover” 6. “The Next Life”

Skid Row - Slave To The Grind (Expanded)

Slave To The Grind is definitely not the same as Skid Row’s debut LP.  Harder, meaner, faster, and angrier than its predecessor, Slave To The Grind is one of my favorite 90’s metal albums.  The title track alone is worth the price of admission, but it only gets better from there.  If you’re an 80’s metal fan, this is a must have.  If you’re a fan of heavier music and want to give something a bit older a look, this is the album to go for.

Slave To The Grind (the uncensored version) on solid red 180g vinyl for the first time in 29 years! Run Out Groove expands it to a 2LP set by including four bonus tracks making their debut on wax. Presented in a deluxe tip-on style gatefold jacket, with insert.

MILES DAVIS - Double Image: Rare Miles From the Complete Bitches Brew Sessions

I’m picking up anything from Miles Davis, but especially this release, pulled from the sessions for Bitches Brew. It took me years to finally “get” this era of Miles, but when I did, I wanted to experience as much of it as I could.  It’s incredible strange, musically complex and puts the listener completely out of their comfort zone. To some, this era is musical gibberish, but to me, it’s the sound of a planet being born or a star being crushed in a black hole. There are very few artists that can pull back the veil on the universe and Miles is one of those artists.

Half a century on from its release, shockwaves from Miles Davis’ Bitches Brew continue to reverberate throughout the universe. Leading more than a dozen all-stars in the studio (including Wayne Shorter on soprano sax, John McLaughlin on electric guitar and a triple-threat electric piano section featuring Joe Zawinul, Chick Corea and Larry Young), Miles defied all conventional styles, joining the loose ends of jazz, rock and funk into a groundbreaking new sound that would eventually become known quite plainly as fusion. This double album, featuring ten embryonic recordings which paved the way for the final album, is issued for the first time as a standalone release on opaque red vinyl for Record Store Day 2020.

LP 1 / Side A “1. Yaphet” 2. “Corrado”

LP 1 / Side B “1. The Little Blue Frog (master)” 2. “The Big Green Serpent” 3. “Trevere” 4. “The Little Blue Frog (alternate take)”

LP 2 / Side A “1. Double Image (first version)” 2. “Feio”

LP 2 / Side B “1. Recollection” 2. “Take It Or Leave It”
