Cardinal Black * Second Sign of Life CD

Second Sign of Life is the third studio album from Cardinal Black. Self-produced and self-engineered, the record was created largely while the band were in transit, recorded at Clouds Hill Studios in Hamburg between dates on a European tour. Where its predecessor Midnight at The Valencia looked outward toward the romance and tantalising borrowed-glamour of Americana, Second Sign of Life turns its attention closer to home. The result is a more immediate, stripped-back and introspective record rooted in the band's British surroundings and shaped by the strange, in-between spaces of life on the road. Across ten songs, Cardinal Black balance soulful vocals, expressive guitar playing and a rawer, more instinctive musical approach with some of their most personal songwriting to date, capturing a band increasingly-comfortable trusting its instinct and defining its own sound.
