Simard-Magali Galdes * Heimweh CD

With Heimweh, soprano Magali Simard-Galdes, horn player Simon Poirier, and pianist Olivier Godin on an 1827 Broadwood pianoforte explore the intimate and deeply expressive world of the Romantic lied.Centered around four lieder by Franz Schubert, the program weaves together works by Kalliwoda, Oberthur, Lachner, and Sieber composers who are less well-known today but who carry on Schubert's legacy. Through themes of nostalgia, unrequited love, solitude, and a connection to nature, Heimweh reveals the full sensitivity of Romanticism, brought to life by the unique combination of voice, period horns, and the pianoforte.
