In a record, the real music lives down in the grooves—in the ups, downs, and everything between. Looking back on nearly ten years of Curious Collections, my life has pretty much followed that same rhythm.
A decade ago, I was a single mom with an inheritance I wasn’t sure how to handle and a deep urge to build something lasting for my kids. So, I opened a shop. Since then, you’ve been right beside me through all of it. You held me up through Stage 3 breast cancer. You stuck by us when the pandemic hit. And you stayed with me through a metastatic cancer battle. Through every treatment and hard day, this shop—and seeing your faces walk through the door—kept me going.
Now, we’re ready for our next big chapter.
Curious Collections has officially moved to our "forever home." We found an old vintage service station in a great, growing patch of 29th Street in Bryan (less than a mile down the road from where we were), and we’re building The Record Garage.
To be completely honest, this move is a gift. The timeline was crazy—we had about 60 days to pack up ten years of music and memories—but this is the dream space I’ve wanted forever. Our old four walls just couldn't hold what we wanted to do anymore. Now we finally have room to breathe, grow, and build a true "third space" for our community.
We’re not just moving boxes; we’re bringing the soul of this place with us.
We are enclosing the double carport into a climate-controlled, industrial-chic vinyl corridor—a spot where you can lose yourself in the stacks away from the Texas heat without losing that gritty garage feel. Inside the main room, we’re setting up shop to brew our own coffee, so you can grab a cup, sit back, listen to a record, and take your time. It’s a phased expansion: we’re moving in with the essentials first and building out the cafe and collaborative space as we go.
I’m not leaving our old spot with a heavy heart—just a full one. We had an incredible run in our hidden corner on North Rosemary, and I’m so thankful for every year there. But The Record Garage is where we finally get to park our dreams and stay put.
