Like many things, Record Store Day 2020, originally slated for April 19, succumbed to Covid-19 cancellation. This really wasn’t a surprise, with safety and common sense taking the lead. The last thing we needed to do was pack into lines and queue up in the midst of a pandemic.
Hidden in with the bigger titles for Record Store Day, there are some other great titles that might be worth checking out. This is a great year for fans of Alternative/Indie music, with some pretty great releases hitting the shelves on April 19. Here’s just a short list of some of those titles.
There are always a ton of great rock albums out on Record Store Day and this year is no exception. Some of this years titles come from huge artists releasing some pretty cool items and some small ones worth checking out.
Anyone that knows me, knows how obsessive I can be about Record Store Day and I’ll admit that I go into it with a mix of pure excitement and thinly veiled anxiety. I always worry about getting the items I really want and then worry about how much I may spend. I can be a bit of a mess about it all. The other thing I do is make list after list of the items that I am interested in and continually refine it over the weeks leading up to Record Store Day.
This years RSD list is filled with big releases and must haves, but I want to shine a light on 5 titles that you may want to pick up at Curious Collections on April 19th. All of these titles are seeing their first vinyl release on RSD, so be sure to check each one out.
From its humble beginnings in 2008, which included just 10 special releases sold in 300 stores, to its upcoming 2020 iteration, which will feature 420 releases in hundreds of sops around the globe, Record Store Day has become an indie retail phenomenon.
